The Da'an Coastal Park is bustling once again as the Taichung City Government Tourism and Travel Bureau has redesigned and transformed marine life into landscape art for the "2024 Taichung Ocean Tourism Festival." Running from now until September 8, the festival will turn every weekend into a summer celebration, inviting citizens and tourists alike to enjoy the beauty of the ocean.

Covering an area of 17 hectares, the Da'an Coastal Park boasts flat, wide beaches with fine sand and clear blue water, making it a popular summer destination. Previously known for its sand sculpture and music festivals, the park has shifted its focus to the Ocean Tourism Festival due to beach erosion caused by climate change. This year’s event has been rebranded and expanded, making it a highlight of Taichung's summer activities.

Tourism Bureau Director Chen Meixiu emphasized that the "2024 Taichung Ocean Tourism Festival" is not only a summer playground for visitors but also a vital platform for promoting environmental protection. The Da'an Port Mazu Cultural Park will be the main venue, hosting sea breeze markets and themed concerts every weekend. Visitors can enjoy a feast of food and music while appreciating the landscape art.

A major attraction this year is the "Whale Splendor Da'an" landscape art, themed around Da'an's old name "Haiweng." Created by renowned local artists, this bamboo whale sculpture measures 12 meters long, 3.5 meters wide, and 4 meters high. Visitors can enter the whale to view marine debris displays, experience the unique artistic charm, and raise their environmental awareness. This landscape art not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also conveys an important message about protecting the marine environment."The 2024 Taichung Ocean Tourism Festival" will be held from August 3 to September 8. During the event, environmental education games and water safety workshops will be held to educate participants about marine conservation while they have fun. The Tourism Bureau is also actively promoting the Da'an Port Mazu Cultural Park, inviting families to explore this exciting summer event.

The festival includes kite surfing experiences and competitions, allowing water sports enthusiasts to showcase their skills. The sea breeze market offers a variety of creative products, local agricultural and fishery specialties, and light snacks, providing visitors with a shopping and dining experience while supporting the local economy.

The Tourism Bureau highlights that this year's festival is more than just a summer event; it is a comprehensive feast that combines art, music, environmental education, and marine experiences. Whether you are visiting with family, and friends, or on your own, you will find joy and surprises here.

Today's press conference was lively, attended by Deputy Director Xu Zhijie of the Ocean Affairs Council's Marine Safety Division, Taichung City Councilors Qiu Aishan, Zhang Jingfen, and Chen Bentian, among other distinguished guests. Legislator Liao Weixiang and Councilors Huang Xinhui and Li Wenjie also sent representatives to participate, joining industry representatives in celebrating this grand event of the ocean and art.
