During the summer vacation, as people have more leisure time, online shopping and social activities have significantly increased, leading to a rise in fraud cases. To prevent fraud, the Security Police Brigade of the Taipei City Police Department recently went deep into the community and, in collaboration with the Jieshou Neighborhood Office in Songshan District, held a series of “Recognize and Prevent Fraud” awareness activities. This activity focused on the elderly, emphasizing common fraud techniques. Through case analysis and detailed explanations, the event aimed to help seniors identify various types of scams and enhance their self-protection capabilities against fraud. At the event, community members learned how to recognize common fraud methods used by scam groups, such as impersonating relatives to borrow money and fake high-return investments. They were also educated on how to stay calm in suspicious situations and avoid being deceived.

The Security Police Brigade emphasized that the public should care for their elderly family members and remind them not to easily believe in unrealistic investment lures, such as “guaranteed profits” or “quick returns.” It is important to stay alert to prevent losing hard-earned money. If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and call 110 or the 165 Anti-Fraud Hotline for verification.
