TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- Taipei’s Parks and Street Lights Office (PSLO) is holding an oncidium exhibition at New Orchid Pavilion (新蘭亭), CKS Shilin Residence Park from now until June 9, PSLO said on May 15.
Oncidium orchids are also called “Dancing Lady Orchids” for their elegant looks that resemble the skirts of dancing ladies. The exhibition of Oncidium orchids at CKS Shilin Residence Park features more than 20 species and more than 500 plants, PLSO said.
Oncidium is a large genus of over 700 species of orchids found growing in the tropical Central and South American countries of Mexico, Brazil, and Bolivia, according to the office. The orchids are well liked for their great variety of colors and stripes, long flowering period, small flowers, and elegant looks.
