About 24,000 international students study in Taiwan each year, according to Lin, Yu-Chang, the Minister, Ministry of the Interior. Otherwise, they'll will depart Taiwan. In addition, it's ridiculous. More than 20,000 international students should be able to stay in Taiwan in the future, according to the Minister, who also made this point. Several ministries have currently come to an agreement. After graduating, students are allowed to stay in Taiwan for a full year and, if necessary, submit an application for an additional year. They are allowed to stay in Taiwan for at least two years, which would quickly solve the labor shortage issue.

The immigration policy was also discussed by Lin, Yu-Chang, who said that whereas in the 1980s and 1990s migrant workers were seen as supplemental labor, today the globe is in a labor shortage. In recent months, the administration has engaged in extensive discussion. A special meeting on population concerns has been convened by the Ministries of the Interior, National Development Council, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Ministry of Labor to address relevant issues. According to Lin, Yu-Chang, the administration has discussed and made adjustments in response to the issue of a labor shortage. The future course of immigration policy will be substantially different.
