CECC confirms 54 more COVID-19 cases, including 10 domestic cases and 44 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 54 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 54 cases, 10 are domestic and 44 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 5 men and 5 women, aged between under 10 and above 60 years old.

Regarding the 44 new imported cases, they are 16 men and 24 women, aged between under 5 and above 70 years old. 10 of them are from the US, 6 from the Philippines, 3 from United Arab Emirates, 2 from France, Spain, and Australia each, and 1 from Cambodia, South Korea, United Kingdom, Ecuador and India each. The remaining 14 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between December 29, 2021 to January 18, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,336,346 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,317,735. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,005 cases. Of the 18,005 confirmed cases, 3,214 are imported; 14,737 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
