Taoyuan gov't appreciates church's cooperation to avoid migrant worker clusters

On May 10, Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan visited the Zhongli Sacred Heart Church to inspect if disease control measures were properly carried out and to distribute carnations to migrant workers, as a blessing for Mother's Day. The Church has given much comfort and care for migrant workers during this virus crisis, Mayor Cheng stated. Mayor Cheng added that many religious activities were undertaken online to avoid potential clusters of infection.

The current pandemic has eased, and the city government will undertake a risk assessment and open each venue in stages for the public to use, Mayor Cheng mentioned. Also, religious activities will be resumed under proper guidance, if less than 100 people join, the seating is arranged in a crisscross pattern, or the environment is well ventilated.

Director Chen Jinghang (陳靜航) of the Department of Labor, Taoyuan City Government, stated that to follow the instructions issued by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), the Labar Department recently assigned personnel to visit and inspect each unit that hired less than 50 migrant workers and assisted them in practicing disease control measures and self-health management to avoid spreading the virus.
