In this episode of the “New Immigrants in Taiwan” column, four new immigrants were interviewed on how they comprehend and apply Taiwan's NT$ 6,000 Universal Cash for All!

Through our interviews, we found that most of the interviewees are unaware of the reason for the distribution of NT$ 6,000 Universal Cash for All. Xiao An, who married to Taiwan from Switzerland, said, is it because of the Lunar New Year that the government is giving out red envelopes? Taiwanese blogger Taitai (泰泰) believes that it is to revive the economy after the epidemic. College student from Myanmar Evelyn provided the right answer. The interviewees commented on the cap set on the NT$ 6,000 Universal Cash for All, saying that while they undoubtedly believe that the more, the better, 6,000 dollars can already do a lot of things. Joyce, a fitness instructor in Taiwan, said: "I think it is very good, and I hope to subsidize people who have no work due to the epidemic, or those who have lost business, or to stimulate tourism consumption." The amount issued by the government is already higher than the previous consumption vouchers.

Swedish new immigrant Xiao An, who just had a baby, said she would use the money to buy clothing. Taiwanese blogger Taitai stated that since she hasn't traveled in a while, she would use the money for travel expenses. While Joyce, a fitness instructor from Taiwan, said she would give the money to her parents for sports and vacation, Evelyn, a student from Myanmar, said she would use it to buy skin care items if she could.

We discovered from the video that Switzerland will not be implementing the program of providing money to all. Evelyn, a student from Myanmar said that it is unlikely that the government of her hometown will provide money because it is a Buddhist nation and activities that are more associated with doing so are considered immoral. The holiday, known as Ban Dagu (半大鼓), signifies that every citizen can perform a good act, conceal their money and give it to those who need it the most, and perform good deeds anonymously.
