According to Nearly 208,000 Chinese tourists visit Philippines in Jan-Sept | The Star, one Philippine congressman stated on October 30, that from January to September of this year, at least 207,932 Chinese visitors have been to the Philippines.

According to Nearly 208,000 Chinese tourists visit Philippines in Jan-Sept | The Star, representative Marvin Rillo claimed that 5.15 percent of the 4,038,379 international visitors who entered the Philippines in the first nine months of 2023 were Chinese, using the most recent statistics from the Department of Tourism.

South Koreans accounted for 1,064,077, or 26.35 percent of all international arrivals, according to Rillo, the vice-chair of the House of Representatives committee on tourism. Americans came in second with 715,744, followed by Japanese with 220,604.

In the meanwhile, Rillo encouraged the tourism department to promote the Philippines as a vacation spot for foreign visitors as well as a center for international gatherings, conferences, and exhibits by using what is known as "rifle marketing," as opposed to "shotgun marketing."

According to Nearly 208,000 Chinese tourists visit Philippines in Jan-Sept | The Star, while "shotgun marketing" strives for the whole global market without respect to particular niches, "rifle marketing" focuses on specialized markets.

According to Representative Marvin Rillo, the Philippine government has budgeted 1.26 billion pesos for promoting the country to potential international tourists in 2019.
