According to Fiber crops' economic value recognized at DA's 'hibla bida' summit | Inquirer News, the Department of Agriculture's (DA) Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority announced the 2023 National Fibercrops Summit, with themed with “Hibla Bida.”

On November 13, the event began in the department's headquarters office located in Quezon City.

The Department of Agriculture stated that despite being non-food crops, the initiative acknowledges the importance of fiber crops to the Philippine economy.

Abaca, cotton, salago, piña, and silk are the five main fiber crops that are the focus of the summit.

On Facebook, according to Fiber crops' economic value recognized at DA's 'hibla bida' summit | Inquirer News, PhilFIDA stated that it represents the notion that fiber crops are essential to the country's legacy but also to its long-term economic viability, competitiveness, and sustainability.

In addition, there was a retail sale and display during the launch, which took place in DA's main lobby from November 13 to 16.
