CECC confirms 68 more COVID-19 cases, including 23 domestic cases and 45 imported cases

Taiwan Immigrants' Global News Network】According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 68 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 68 cases, 23 are domestic and 45 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 10 men and 13 women, aged between under 10 and above 70 years old.

Regarding the 45 new imported cases, they are 20 men and 24 women, aged between under 5 and above 70 years old. 17 of them are from the US, 4 are from the Philippines, 3 from the Vietnam and Israel each, 2 from Canada, 1 from Poland, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Sweden, Russia, United Kingdom, and Ireland each. The remaining 8 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 5, 2021 to January 20, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,394,042 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,375,246. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,109 cases. Of the 18,109 confirmed cases, 3,283 are imported; 14,772 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
