The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior - Chen Tsung-yen (陳宗彥), the Director of the National Immigration Agency (NIA) - Zhong Jing Kun (鐘景琨), and 9 members of the Immigrant Development Fund Management Association (新住民發展基金管理會) visited Weiwuying Metropolitan Park and participated in the 2022 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Kaohsiung on February 18.
Through the art installations made by immigrants such as “pulsation” and “symbiotic flower”, a message of cultural pluralism and diversity & inclusion are conveyed.
An immigrant from Japan, Daisuke Nagatomo (長友大輔), is the creator of the “pulsation”. The artwork expresses uneasiness when he first came to Taiwan through the blood pulsing through the heart. An immigrant from Canada, Ye Hai Ti (葉海地), shapes the land and people of Taiwan by creating a “symbiotic flower” made of ceramics.
Director Zhong also mentioned that immigrants and their children are recognized in the 2022 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Kaohsiung, as they took part in the grand event by serving as professional interpreters and event guides.
