June 25: CECC confirms 76 local COVID-19 cases

TAIPEI (Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network) —— On June 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 76 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. All 76 cases are local. The CECC also announced 5 deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 76 local cases, 39 are men and the other 37 are women ranging in ages from under 5 to 89 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between May 18 and June 24, 2021. Regarding those local cases, New Taipei City reported most cases, at 32, and Taipei City had the second highest number, at 20. Taoyuan City reported 10 cases; Hsinchu County reported 4 cases; Miaoli County reported 3 cases; Changhua County and Kaohsiung City reported 2 cases each; Yilan County, Keelung City and Taichung City reported 1 case each.

Regarding the five deaths announced today, they were three men and two women between 70 and 99 years old. The period of infection was between May 16 and June 19, while the period of diagnosis was between May 29 and June 29. The deaths occurred between June 21 and 23.

The CECC explained that the recently confirmed cases were released from quarantine. Between May 11 and June, out of 13,061 confirmed cases, 9,650 have been released from quarantine which also represents 73.9% of the confirmed cases.

The CECC reported that a total of 1,213,717 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 1,197,732. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 14,465 cases. Of the 14,465 confirmed cases, 1,167 are imported; 13,245 are local; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 102 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 610 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 610 deaths, 602 are local cases and the other 8 are imported.

The CECC reminds the public to pay attention to personal hygiene such as washing your hands regularly, wearing your masks, reducing unnecessary outings, and avoiding crowded areas especially those that are considered to be high-risk. Cooperating and following these epidemic prevention guidelines will keep the land and its people safe.
