Registration is open this year for the new immigrant reproductive health interpreter training course. The Hsinchu City Public Health Bureau has planned 4 required training days for new immigrants, their adult children, and volunteers with Chinese and foreign language skills to join medical interpretation services. Registration is open until May 25. Those who complete the course and pass the test can receive a certificate, and may receive interpretation fees when providing services under regulations.

The training focuses on reproductive health and medical interpretation. Course content covers maternity care information, communication in medical settings, and interpretation service skills. When new immigrant families face language barriers during prenatal checkups, consultation, or medical visits, interpreters can help convey medical information and reduce care gaps caused by unclear communication.

The required training sessions will be held on June 3, 10, 17, and 24, every Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. An additional stress relief and emotional adjustment activity will be held on June 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Participation is optional.

The bureau said registration will close on May 25, or earlier if the course reaches capacity. In addition to new immigrants and their adult children, volunteers interested in new immigrant services may also join. The training helps add medical interpretation manpower, gives language-skilled participants professional training and service experience, and improves access to reproductive health and medical care information.
