According to Visiting Timor-Leste President eyeing stronger ties with Philippines | The Star, President José Ramos-Horta of Timor-Leste came in Manila on November 8 and, according to the Palace, plans to further deepen relations with the country.

Ramos-Horta was met by Belinda Ante, the Philippine ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport earlier in the day.

Ramos-Horta and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. are scheduled to meet, according to the Palace, to talk about technological, political, educational, and economic collaborations.

In the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), where it presently has the position of observer, Timor-Leste is competing for membership.

According to Visiting Timor-Leste President eyeing stronger ties with Philippines | The Star, Timor-Leste's complete Asean membership has the backing of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
