To encourage new resident children to leverage their parents' native language advantages, the Department of National Education (K-12 Education Administration) under the Ministry of Education has commissioned the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology to promote the "International Mobility Development Program." This program offers diverse activities, including "Skill Enhancement," "International Exchange," and "International Workplace Experience" for new resident students. This summer, the K-12 Education Administration arranged for 33 students to visit Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, enhancing their international workplace knowledge and skills through cross-border exchanges and boosting their future competitiveness in the global job market.

Since 2016, the K-12 Education Administration has continuously promoted international workplace experience activities for new resident children. This year, an eight-day workplace experience in Vietnam was arranged from August 3 to 10. Additionally, from July 10 to 12, the administration organized a "Domestic Taiwan Enterprise Internship," allowing students to visit domestic companies and understand the current industry landscape. The Vietnam itinerary included visits to five Taiwanese enterprises, including Hop Gia Industry, Taiyu Technology, and Shintung Electronics, providing insights into the Vietnamese work environment and labor conditions.Students Visit Hsin Tong Electric Co. to Learn About the Plastic Injection Molding Process (Photo / Courtesy of Ministry of Education Website)

During the international workplace experience in Vietnam, students entered the production line at Fengming Company's Vietnam factory, gaining hands-on experience in bicycle saddle manufacturing and witnessing world-leading technology and quality management. Through visits to both domestic and overseas sites, students not only experienced the differences in production and management models between Taiwanese and Vietnamese factories but also sparked innovative thinking, laying a solid foundation for their future careers.Students Gain Hands-On Experience in Bicycle Seat Manufacturing at Feng Ming Co. The K-12 Education Administration emphasizes that this activity not only enhances workplace skills but also provides students with opportunities to engage with Southeast Asian cultures, fostering respect for cultural differences, and strengthening their motivation to learn their mother tongue and experience multiculturalism. This further deepens their self-identity and international perspective, maximizing the unique advantages of new resident children.
