According to The Manila Times, the Philippines announced 6,637 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and 6,091 recoveries, the Department of Health (DoH) said on May 6.
The latest number of infections raises the total caseload to 1.080 million, from which 999,011 or 92.5 percent have recovered while 63,170 remained active.
The drop in new cases was due to the low number of samples processed by DoH laboratories in which only 14.7 percent of the 45,000 tested yielded positive results.
