New Taipei City provides telephone services for resigning migrant workers and free consultation services to caretakers

As the epidemic nationwide alert was downgraded to level 2, the New Taipei City Government, Labor Affairs Bureau is gradually adjusting their services. Among them is the implementation of the “Free At-home Consultation Service for Migrant Workers 免費到宅照護指導" which has benefited a total of 2123 people in the past 5 years.

NTPC Labor Affairs Bureau commissioner Chen Jui-chia 陳瑞嘉 stated that services will be provided via telephone to reduce the risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Employers must mail termination notices for their workers to the Labor Affairs Bureau 14 days before the termination date. Once the notice has been received, the Labor Affairs Bureau will contact the migrant worker and confirm the reason for terminating their employment and for returning to their home country. If all goes smoothly, a certificate will be sent to the employer.

The “Free At-home Consultation Service for Migrant Workers 免費到宅照護指導" is open for applications through the 1966 hotline beginning August 16. Eligible applicants are legally hired foreign migrant workers employed within the jurisdiction of New Taipei City. Migrant workers can receive professional care services and guidance under nursing staff. This not only prevents occupational accidents of caretakers but also provides better care for those receiving the care.
