Foreigners in Taiwan must extend their stay or leave the island if they are not eligible for extension

In line with the downgraded nationwide level alert to level 2, many foreigners in Taiwan must process their extension of stay. Please visit the National Immigration Agency (NIA) service station nearest you to process your application. Those who are not eligible for extension must prepare to depart from Taiwan.

To apply for a resident visa for the first time, it will be issued by the Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA). Foreigners can apply for an extension during the nationwide level 2 alert, from July 27 to August 25.

In-person processing was temporarily suspended while under the nationwide level 3 alert. Those who must leave Taiwan do not need to visit service stations to process their departure.
