A fire broke out in a migrants’ dormitory in Guantian District, Tainan City on June 29. 10 migrant workers tried to escape, therefore they jumped from the second floor, made 6 of them were injured, in order to avoid the recurrence. Tainan City Labor Bureau will inspect the city’s migrant workers’ dormitory and now the list is handed over to the Fire Department for the management.
According to the Liberty Times, a fire broke out in the early morning on June 29 in the migrant workers dormitory in Guantian District, Tainan City. About 80 migrant workers are living in the building with 2 floor. When the fire broke out, the migrants who are living on the second floor were blocked by the black smoke, they could only pushed to the main stairs to go down. Ten of them have tried to jump from the second floor, made some of them injured.
The firefighters sent the injured people to the hospital, now there is 1 person who is still being hospitalized.
In order to prevent the same disaster happen again, the Tainan Municipal Government will inspect the migrants’ dormitories in the city and list them to the fire department, while the fire department will carry out the fire safety inspections to the dormitories.
