As the summer heat arrives, not only do temperatures soar, but mosquitoes also become rampant. With the upcoming Lunar July, the first service station of the Taichung City Immigration Office invited horticultural therapist Ms. Chen Miaoman to teach new resident couples how to make mugwort sachets. These sachets serve as mosquito repellents and purifiers, providing a refreshing atmosphere for new residents during the hot summer.

Ms. Chen Miaoman pointed out that various plants have different properties and benefits. Many common plants, such as mugwort and lemongrass, emit special fragrances that purify indoor air and repel mosquitoes. She shared the uses of sachets: when tired, rubbing the sachet and deeply inhaling the natural aroma helps to relieve fatigue and stress, achieving a therapeutic effect.
During the event, new residents followed Ms. Chen's guidance to trim, crush, and place dried natural herbs into gauze bags to make sachets. The room was filled with the refreshing scent of natural herbs, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Xiaoyuer, a new resident from Vietnam, mentioned that Vietnamese people often add herbs to food for health benefits. She plans to share her sachet-making skills with her family, allowing everyone to wear sachets for mosquito repellent and protection.
Director Wang Ji of the first service station of the Taichung City Immigration Office reminded that with the recent rise in COVID-19 and flu cases, the public should pay attention to epidemic prevention and wear masks when necessary to protect themselves and others. Additionally, new residents should avoid buying unknown meat products online and inform overseas friends and relatives not to send pork products to Taiwan to prevent African swine fever outbreaks.
