The National Immigration Agency launched the "Understanding ICERD Animation" through the video in order to put into practice the spirit of "The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination" (ICERD) and further raise public awareness of racial discrimination elimination, equality promotion, and respect for diversity. Encourage and inform the public that racial discrimination may impact fundamental rights like housing, employment, and freedom of speech, and that it can even be as little as micro discrimination in day-to-day life.
The video answers common queries regarding racial discrimination and demonstrates the distinction between direct and indirect discrimination using real-world examples. The general population may overlook the numerous, seemingly little instances of racial or micro discrimination that occur in day-to-day interactions. By distributing the promotional movie, NIA seeks to raise awareness of ICERD among the general public and encourage respect for diversity and ethnic equality.
