“A Camp Unknown” (彼岸他方) is a documentary that tells a story about Vietnamese refugees who came to Penghu County, Taiwan from 1977 to 1988 after the Vietnam War. The documentary was aired recently on PTS (公視).

While the refugees stayed in Penghu, the Taiwan government provided them with places for living with basic food. They were also given occupational training and employment opportunities. They were waiting for an opportunity to immigrate to other countries.

The executive producer of “A Camp Unknown” Lui Chi-hsiung (劉吉雄) researched and studied the history of those refugees for more than twenty years. This documentary also had been prepared for ten years. The director of “A Camp Unkonw” Awei Liu (劉建偉) said, the difficulties of shooting this documentary were the Fieldwork and the historical documents reaching. They also would like to send a message to the audience through this documentary—don’t forget the refugees who died before landing in Penghu. They are also important.
