Meta Expands Global Fight Against Online Scam Networks, Reports Dig.Watch
According to a report by Dig.Watch, Meta has announced an expansion of its global efforts to combat online scam networks, strengthening technical detection systems and cross-platform cooperation to counter increasingly organized digital fraud. The company noted that as scam operations become more sophisticated and coordinated across regions, actions by individual platforms or local authorities alone are no longer sufficient. A broader, collaborative approach is now required to effectively disrupt these networks.The expanded initiative covers Meta's major platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Meta stated that it has intensified the use of automated systems to detect suspicious accounts and scam-related advertisements. In 2025 alone, the company reported removing more than 134 million advertisements linked to fraudulent schemes, significantly reducing user exposure to fake investment offers, fraudulent shopping ads, and phishing attempts.Meta emphasized that combating online scams requires more than internal enforcement. The company plans to further deepen collaboration with governments, law enforcement agencies, and industry partners worldwide. By sharing insights and coordinating responses, Meta aims to improve the overall efficiency of anti-scam efforts across the digital ecosystem.
