Taiwan and the Netherlands signed an agreement on the 16th that Taiwan has become the 7th country to have linked a working holiday deal with the Netherlands.
The ambassador from the Netherlands, Guy Wittich, signed the Memorandum of Agreement in the Chief Secretary's, Li Guangzhang, testimony.
According to the Memorandum, the two countries provide 100 quotas for 18-31 years old young people to travel and work in each other's country. Besides, Taiwanese young people will be allowed to apply for the residency to travel, work, or participate in a short-term study for up to one year, while the participants from the Netherlands will be allowed to do the same in Taiwan for up to 180 days, which can be extensible to 360 days.
The Memorandum of Agreement for working holidays was signed by representatives of the two sides: Chen Xinxin and Guy Wittich. The program is expected to take effect since the 1st of April of 2020, and relevant dates about applications will be announced later.
The representative of the Netherlands, Guy Wittich, states that the Netherlands only links working holidays deal with 7 countries including Taiwan. Taiwan is also the third Asian partner for the Netherlands, following South Korea and Hong Kong, and it is also hoped that the young people from each side can make good use of the program to promote mutual exchange and make the relational closer.
The program for Taiwan's and the Netherlands ' working holiday will further advance youth exchanges and deepen the practical cooperation between Taiwan and the Netherlands based on the fine bilateral foundation.
Chief Secretary Li of Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates that the Netherlands is the 12th European country and the 17th country to have linked a working holiday deal with Taiwan, following the UK and Germany. It is also hoped that the young people of both sides can use the program to understand each other and bring bilateral ties even closer.
