MOI 9 Units Listen Opinions of New Residents in “2019 New Immigrant Seminar in Southern Area”

In order to listen opinions of new residents, National Immigration Agency held the forum of “2019 New Immigrant Seminar in Southern Area” at Tainan City. It has invited over 200 new residents’ representatives from Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung to join the forum. Deputy Minister of the Interior Chen Tsung-yen (陳宗彥), NIA Deputy Director-General Chung Ching-kun (鐘景琨) and relevant officials attend to the forum.

Yulin County New Residents Family Center proposed the suggestion that there should be more choices of training places for new residents from different areas to participate. In addition, it expected the government to subside the transportation fee. Deputy Minister of the Interior Chen Tsung-yen stated that sharing workshop of the talents cultivating of new residents’ children overseas will start from Pingtung this year. NIA also encouraged middle and southern governmental units to develop or assist new residents’ affairs. Also, the location of holding events will be decided by which district has many participants and rewarders.

At present, the mainland spouse parents are required to be for more than 70 years old to be able to settle in Taiwan, but the amount is small. The new resident group Fong’s Cheongsam suggested that the conditions should be loosened or increased the numbers so that the parents of mainland spouses can come to Taiwan. NIA Transaction Agent Leader Huang Lim-yu(黃齡玉) responded that the issue of settlement has been discussed since 2015, but this issue is more extensive. So, it can only maintain the current situation. Chen responded that he would continuously promote discussions on the issue of residence and protect the rights and benefits of all new residents as much as possible.

In addition to MOI and NIA, the New Residents Development Foundation, the Mainland Affairs Commission, the Department of Housing, the Ministry of Education, the Labor Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare Family Department and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture clearly showed that the Immigration Department all participated to the forum “2019 New Immigrant Seminar in Southern Area”. Representatives from various administrative units attaches great importance to the affairs of the new residents. More than 200 new residents attend the forum and share their opinions freely, hoping to build a better future together.
