[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network] An Indonesian couple went to NIA Yilan County Specialized Corps. doe self-reporting Though not married, the two are expecting a child. They were concerned that when they returned home, people would treat them oddly. Specialized Corps. then aware of it, they contacted non-governmental organizations to arrange for Islamic rituals to be used to formally certify the couple.
The Indonesian couple have been working in Taiwan for many years. Recently, they learned about “Expanded overstayers voluntary departure program”, so that after the child is born, they don’t want the child to live in hiding for any longer. Days later, the two decided to seek help from the Yilan County Specialized Corps.

Accordgin to Yilan County Specialized Corps. that “Expanded overstayers voluntary departure program" starts from February 1st to June 30th, 2023. In the future, the penalty amount of the revised law will be increased from NT$2,000 to NT$10,000 to NT$30,000 to NT$150,000. The maximum length of control for arriving to Taiwan will be expanded from the initial maximum of 3 years to a maximum of 10 years. NIA has also set up special hotline: 0800-024-881 for overstayers to inquire.
