The Economic Development Bureau and the Labour Affairs Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government held a year-end results presentation of labor and economic affairs at the Siwei Administration Center. The core spirit is to create more business opportunities and to allow workers to work with dignity in Kaohsiung. Under the mechanism of cooperation and complementary benefits, the government, enterprises, and laborers are assisted in making money and ensuring their security to create a win-win situation.
To promote the local employment, the Labour Affairs Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government has handled more than 433 recruitment events this year and, for the first time, established "Northbound Drifters Back to Hometown Employment Service Site" that achieved 2,197 views for recruiting talents back to Kaohsiung in New Taipei City. Moreover, to protect the disabled's and migrant workers' rights to live and work, the Labour Affairs Bureau initiated the “hierarchical management” mechanism for migrating dormitories. This year, it has gained more than 19,260 visits, of which 1,062 items need to be improved, and more than 70% of them have been improved. Furthermore, it pioneered the promotion of visually impaired massage services with the lottery that has generated nearly 15 million in revenue.
This year, the only Museum of Labor in Taiwan has also been transformed to handle labor film festivals, digitize the collections, and launch moving picture books that deepen the culture of labor.
Fu Hezhong, the director of the Kaohsiung Economic Development Bureau, points out that the number of international conferences and exhibitions held in Kaohsiung has been continually increasing. This year, 107 international conferences and 59 exhibitions were handled in Kaohsiung that stroke the highest number in the past five years. Two international conferences will be held next year: the ICCA Congress and the Global Harbor Cities Forum that will both include more than one thousand people.
To build urban landmarks and enrich waterfront functions, the city government will also continue to play the role of negotiation and matchmaking and to work with the central government to promote the Ferris wheel development program as soon as possible. Also, it will assist in enterprise establishing to drive economic benefits for the city and to attract tourism consumption that would increase employment opportunities. Additionally, combining important investments with surrounding areas will create a comprehensive business operation zones for leisure and entertainment and create a qualified activity space for Kaohsiung's business and entertainment industry.
