A conclusion ceremony for National Immigration Agency's 4th "Immigration Benchmark Training Program" (外國移民官標竿學習計畫) was recently conducted. This year, a total of 20 immigration officers from 12 different countries were invited to Taiwan to take part in the course seminar. Through this program for immigration officers, they can exchange information about law enforcement practices in other nations, strengthen international collaboration, and create a multilateral exchange platform.
Both the Director-General of the National Immigration Agency, Mr. Chung (鐘景琨), and Deputy Minister (吳容輝) of the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) were present at the conclusion ceremony. According to Deputy Minister (吳容輝), this program has brought together important nations from the New Southbound Policy, including Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia, as well as Belgium, Germany, and Lithuania from Europe, the United States, Mongolia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Palau and Paraguay. Through class lectures and field trips, a total of 20 immigration officers from 12 nations shared their expertise in immigration law enforcement and created a platform for collaboration.

According to National Immigration Agency, only 4 nations and a total of 7 participants were present when the program was initially organized. The number of participating nations and participants have dramatically increased through the fourth session of this year, highlighting the significance of immigration law enforcement in the global society. NIA also intend to provide the public more convenient services through international interactions.

The National Immigration Agency's headquarters, Taipei City Specialized Operation Brigades, Taipei Detention Center, Coast Guard Administration of Ocean Affairs Council, Investigation Bureau of Ministry of Justice, and other relevant units were visited by immigration officials from various nations as part of this Immigration Benchmark Training Program. They learned about Taiwan's accomplishments in immigration counseling, human trafficking prevention, immigration law enforcement, and Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program.

National Immigration Agency also planned for immigration officers from different nations to visit popular tourist attractions in Taipei during the event, including Ximending, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Ningxia Night Market, and Xinyi Commercial District, so that they could experience Taiwanese cultural practices and cuisine and exchange and learn from one another. NIA hopes to continue working closely with more nations in the future.
