To assist new immigrants in adapting to life in Taipei and enhance their employment and entrepreneurial skills, Zhongzheng District Office will hold a "Plant Drawing & Coffee Brewing Experience Class and Fun Gathering" from August 15 to September 19, 2026. This course is jointly organized by the Zhongzheng District Office, Zhongzheng Community College, and the Taipei City Zhenji Xiang Social Service Association. The course is free of charge and encourages new immigrants to actively participate.
The course has two main themes:
- Plant Drawing: Will be held from August 15 to August 29, every Tuesday and Friday from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, at Zhongzheng Community College (No. 6, Section 1, Jizhan Road, Zhongzheng District).
- Coffee Brewing Experience: Will be held from September 2 to September 16, every Tuesday and Friday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at the Nanjiao Leisure Garden (No. 14, Building 2, Lane 315, Section 2, Zhongshan Road, Zhongzheng District).
A completion ceremony and a fun gathering will be held on September 19 (Friday).
Zhongzheng District Mayor Hsu Chun-chi stated that this course, designed to complement the Taipei City Government's Department of Civil Affairs' new immigrant resettlement support policies, combines art and hands-on practice to help new immigrants acquire skills, strengthen their job competitiveness, and encourage entrepreneurial development.
The "Plant Drawing" course uses common Southeast Asian spice plants as its theme, guiding participants from observing plant characteristics to learning colored pencil techniques, combining plant knowledge, composition skills, and creative ideas to complete works that are both aesthetically pleasing and culturally significant.
The "Coffee Brewing Experience" covers brewing principles, equipment use, and latte art techniques. Expert instructors will teach participants about the fundamentals of the coffee industry and practical skills.
The target participants are new immigrants who are registered in Taipei City, married to Taiwanese nationals, and are in Taiwan as a result of family reunion, dependent immigration, or permanent residence. Priority will be given to those who have not participated in a similar program in the area since January 1, 2024. If there are still spots available, other new immigrants from outside the city will be considered.
Registration is open online:(https://iwnet.civil.taipei/NewImmigrants/Home/Register/378) from June 18, 2026, at 9:30 AM, until the program is filled.
