“Sawadee ka! We're here in Thailand today.” The two were greeted by the Traditional Thai house in Neipu, Pingtung. This is the first traditional Thai-style building in Taiwan and the owner created an instagrammable park that has become a popular tourist destination in Pingtung.

Once they entered the park, there were decorations such as an elephant statue, coconut trees, and the Chao Phraya River. The main building in the park features a wooden structure and is raised on stilts. The type of this house is the same as the ones where the Thai royal family and nobles lived in Thailand 200 years ago.

The building materials used are all high-quality solid wood such as teak and mahogany. These kinds of wood will not be destroyed by water or wood-boring insects. In addition, the elephant-shaped art installation on display makes people feel like they’re in Thailand.

There are three seating areas in the park, including the most crowded gazebo, a thatched hut, and a small-sized traditional Thai house. The waiter ushered the two into the small-sized traditional Thai house. Although there is no air-conditioning in this independent dining area, the restaurant personnel had thoughtfully prepared a fan for them. While enjoying the gentle breeze, Dada Kim’s boyfriend said, “It's very comfortable sitting here.”

On the menu, there were a variety of Thai dishes such as shrimp paste with water spinach, Thai basil with minced pork, papaya salad, and moon shrimp cake, etc. Dada Kim ordered Pad Thai and Thai Chili Chicken in the end.

“It has a sour taste, it’s a little spicy and salty but it's really delicious.” Pad Thai is a classic Thai dish that is made with rice noodles and other ingredients. After taking a few bites of the food, she said, “its fresh taste is worth waiting for an hour.”

Later, she tried the Thai Chili Chicken which has a crispy crust and tender flesh. Together with the sweet & sour sauce, this dish makes the most ideal accompaniment to Thai rice.
