Muslim tourism in Taiwan to be further promoted through B2B exchange events

Mastercard Incorporated & Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) recently ranked Taiwan as the second most attractive non-OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) destination for Muslim travelers, which is sitting equal with the United Kingdom and just after Singapore.

The record high place is a great affirmation of efforts made to create a Muslim-friendly environment in Taiwan. The Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications is preparing to welcome Muslim tourists after the border control is relaxed in the future.

A few days ago, an exchange meeting of Muslim-friendly tourism environment construction B2B industry was held at the Caesar Metro Taipei. It is hoped that Muslim tourism in Taiwan can be further promoted through B2B exchange events.

With the New Southbound Policy being promoted, economic, trade and tourism exchanges with ASEAN countries increased as well.

In addition, there are nearly 300,000 Muslim new immigrants and migrant workers living in Taiwan, and a total of 254 restaurants, lodgings, and leisure farms have obtained halal certification. Recently, Yehliu Geopark (關渡自然), Guandu Nature Park (關渡自然公園), travel agencies, tour guides, etc. have also obtained halal certification.

The Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications mentions a new version of the tourist guide booklet for Muslim visitors will be launched before the end of the year, enabling more tourism industry players to understand Muslim tourism more and prepare to tap into the Muslim travel market.
