Since March 15, the Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor has loosened the admission requirements for migrant workers as the pandemic slows down. In principle, one-person-per-room accommodations with an independent bathroom are provided to migrant workers for self-initiated pandemic prevention. Covid-19 rapid test is only necessary if you have symptoms upon entry into the nation, and the results do not need to be uploaded to the “Entry and Departure of Foreign Labor Airport Care Service” website.

According to Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor, newly employed live-in foreign workers should still register relevant information on the Ministry of Labor website 5 days before entering the country. Newly employed industry migrant workers (including institutional care workers) can register for the airport pick-up service 3 days before entering the country. Migrant workers who apply for reentering the country must also register for the airport pick-up service.

Migrant workers in general industries (including institutional) and migrant workers re-entering the country may arrange transportation to self-initiated pandemic prevention locations by employers and intermediary personnel after entry. Newly employed live-in foreign workers will be picked up by a special car after entry to the one-stop lecture service point.

For self-initiated pandemic prevention, migrant workers can be accommodated at the employer's residences, worker dormitories, a hotel, etc. Also, the locations for pandemic prevention are no longer required to log in and subject to county and local government verification.

While the restrictions have been relaxed, social welfare migrant employees still need to interact with high-risk individuals such those who are over age of 65, younger than age of 6, or immunocompromised, therefore it is advised that employers support migrant workers in doing Covid-19 rapid tests each day before work. The CECC guidelines should be followed while visiting medical or long-term care facilities. For more information, please visit Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor website.
