Fisherman's Day 2023 was recently celebrated by the Tamsui Fisherman's Association. They praised the seven excellent fishermen chosen this year, including young Taiwanese captains and international crew members, and thanked the fishermen for their commitment and hard work.

Amo Edison, a Filipino who works at Tamsui Second Fishing Port (Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf), is one of the foreign crew members that received the exceptional fisherman award this year. Amo has lived in Taiwan for 12 years as of this year. He speaks fluent Chinese, Taiwanese, English, and Indonesian in addition to Filipino. As a result, he frequently acts as a communication link for the crew's international members.

Amo is highly well-liked. He frequently takes the initiative to look after the Indonesian and Vietnamese crew members in addition to helping the owner with fishing operations, becoming the reliance of other foreign crew members. Amo also assists in the management of the prayer room for foreign crew members in the port area.

According to the Tamsui Fisherman's Association, fishing is one of Taiwan's most significant businesses for the country's economic growth. The annual Fisherman's Day celebration not only expresses gratitude to fishermen for their commitment and hard work, but also recognizes and honors exceptional fishermen.
