"Taiwan-Singapore reciprocal automated immigration clearance system" was formally introduced. With five nations—the US, South Korea, Australia, Italy, and Germany—Taiwan is now adopting reciprocal automatic customs clearance systems. Singapore has joined the other five nations that use reciprocal automated customs clearance.

Passengers with Taiwanese passports can use the automated customs clearance channel at Singapore Changi Airport and land checkpoints as long as they meet the entry requirements and do not need to register in advance after Singapore included Taiwan in its Automated Clearance Initiative in April of this year. Taiwan is the 51st nation in Singapore that is eligible to use the plan for automated customs clearance.

In accordance with the plan, Singaporean tourists who wish to utilize automatic clearing in Taiwan must visit a registration counter in the arrivals area, where they must produce their passports and submit to face and fingerprint identification.

According to the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), passengers will be able to use the Automated Clearance Initiative starting in 2022 when they enter the country for the first time. Once they have logged in, they can use it again when they depart the country or visit Singapore again. Around 400,000 individuals traveled between Singapore and Taiwan before to the outbreak of Covud-19. It is anticipated that by including Taiwan in the Automated Clearance Initiative, Singapore and Taiwan's bilateral ties would be enhanced and travel and trade between the two countries will increase.
