CECC confirms 79 more COVID-19 cases, including 18 domestic cases and 61 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 79 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 79 cases, 18 are domestic and 61 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 7 men and 11 women, aged between below 5 years old and around 60 years old.

Regarding the 61 new imported cases, they are 29 men and 30 women, aged between under 5 and above 80 years old. 11 of them are from United States, 5 from The Philippines, 4 from Singapore, 3 from India, 2 from England, and 1 from Australia, Canada, Korea, Bangladesh, Mexico, France, Vietnam, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Myanmar, and Brazil each. The remaining 25 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 13, 2022, to February 10, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,918,661 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,898,487. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 19,455 cases. Of the 19,455 confirmed cases, 4,105 are imported; 15,296 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
