According to PSA probe finds foreigners use fake birth certificate to get PH passport | Inquirer News, on November 13, a representative of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) revealed that certain foreign nationals had obtained Philippine passports by using forged birth certificates.

Assistant National Statistician Marizza Grande of the PSA stated that, after working with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), they had confirmed that, while six foreign nationals with Philippine passports claimed to be Filipinos, their birth certificates had been tampered with.

Out of the birth certificates they presented for passports, according to PSA probe finds foreigners use fake birth certificate to get PH passport | Inquirer News, the PSA has verified six of them as phony or altered documents, and one is legitimate, Grande said in an interview. As of right now, the seven suspected foreigners are the only information the PSA has.

In the civil registry office, she pointed out, there were six fictitious birth certificates. The six foreigners' documents are being tracked down by PSA in collaboration with the DFA.

Assistant National Statistician Marizza Grande also mentioned that the PSA is looking for further details on other foreign nationals who could be giving the DFA false birth certificates.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is aggressively collaborating with law enforcement authorities to pursue the appropriate criminal charges against foreign persons who were able to get Philippine passports, according to Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda.
