The “Starlux Airlines” founded by the former Chairman of Eva Air, Zhang Guo-wei (張國煒), is expected to operate at the end of January next year (2020).
The Storm Media and the anue reported on July 5, that the initial operation of Starlux Airlines will be based on the popular routes of tourism, such as Thailand, Vietnam and Japan. In addition to the Taoyuan Aerotropolis as the main base, the Taichung route is also the initial operational focus.
The “Starlux Airlines”current the air rights include eight regular routes in Japan, which are Taoyuan-Okinawa, Osaka, Fukuoka, Sendai, Sapporo, Hakodate, Nagoya and Narita, as well as three routes in Thailand, which are Taoyuan-Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.
In addition, the Starlux Airlines also obtained two scheduled charter flights from Taichung to Narita and Osaka, with a total of 13 routes, all of which have been approved by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
On the other hand, the Starlux Airlines has also filed an application for regular routes between Taoyuan and Taichung to many cities in Vietnam, and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications is also reviewing it.
The “Starlux Airlines” was established in May last year (2018) by Zhang Guo-wei (張國煒), former Chairman of Eva Air, and currently has three aircraft. Last year, the Starlux Airlines began to actively recruit talents, and currently employs more than 500 people.
Nie Guo-wei (聶國維),the Director of Starlux Airlines Aviation Public Relations said that according to the plan, the first Airbus A321neo will be returned to Taiwan by Chairman Zhang Guo-wei in October this year (2019). The second and third delivery time is December this year and January next year (2020). The first flight will be operating in January next year and the airline will start selling tickets around December.
