Drive out the Old and Bring in the New for Lunar New Year by New Resident Cleaning Cooperative

The Lunar new year is approaching, and every family in Taiwan will have a year-end clean up to bring a new atmosphere. The New Resident Cleaning Cooperative in Kaohsiung established last year has been actively seeking office and household cleaning services and hopes that the public can offer more opportunities for new residents to serve.

The Mustard Seed Mission organized by the New Resident Family Service Center promotes women's cooperative economic innovation and social practice experimental plan to cultivate new resident women to be financially independent and established the New Resident Cleaning Cooperative to provide new job opportunities for new residents to increase their incomes.

Lu Fengjiao, who is from Guangxi, China, has come to Taiwan for marriage for 8 years and has to take care of her young children at home. Joining the cooperative through a friend ’s introduction in this September, she said that this job allows her to take care of her children and make good use of her flexible hours to take cleaning cases to help out with the family expenses.

The chairperson of the cooperative, Huang Qingxuan, who is from Vietnam, said that she saw the efforts of new residents living in Taiwan and their desire for being financially independent. So, she discussed with her friends focusing on household cleaning work that new residents are good at as the main business. Through receiving cases, new residents of the cooperative will operate assessment and cleaning work at offices or houses. There were only 12 members when the cooperative was just established, but through new residents' introduction, there are already 20 members now.
