According to The Star | Malaysia News: National, Regional and World News, the 59-year-old Jane Chelliah-Manning, who has lived in Britain since 1981, quickly broke down in tears of delight and pride. She received word that, in recognition of her efforts in the civil service and contributions to British society, she had been chosen for an award. King Charles III will confer the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) on Jane, an assistant director of the Department for Business stationed in London, at a later date. According to Jane, the honor also acknowledged her leadership as chair of a London-based organization for women with learning difficulties.

She said she dedicates her MBE award to her late father, John Chelliah, according to Jane, was the former director of the Malaysian Agricultural Producers Association. He had always pushed her to aim high. Jane has a master’s degree in international relations from the London School of Economics.

Jane declared that her resolution is to make good use of her MBE. She added that her major goal has always been to serve the public and assist others. Jane asserts that receiving this honor is proof that she holds the proper principles and that her younger self would be proud of her. According to The Star | Malaysia News: National, Regional and World News, Jane, who also provides commentary on Asian women's issues to the BBC Asian Network, hoped she could convey the proper message to women, especially her daughter, who is 23 years old.

For the time being, Jane is anticipating seeing King Charles during the award ceremony. After 41 years in the UK, it will be her first encounter with British royalty.
