Kaohsiung Parents and Children of New Resident Celebrating Migrants Day Together

The International Migrants Day is going to be held on December 18. The Social Affairs Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government and the Good Shepherd Social Welfare Foundation handled the activity on the morning of December 8, “Technology your heart with children” for new residents totalizing 800 members of new residents families joining in and feeling the happy moments with families and friends.

 

Themed with “Parent-child learning”, The Social Affairs Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government made a special arrangement that families of new residents gathered at the National Science and Technology Museum to explore the secrets of technology together. The activity combined the exhibitions of the theme of the Science and Technology Museum to set up eight levels of the parent-child challenge game and combined the activity of "KidsFest of 5 ASEAN Countries" of the museum so that new residents' families could directly experience the childhood culture of Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia.

 

A Juan, from Indonesia, stated that it was touching to see the customs, toys, and food of her hometown and was like coming back to her Indonesian family with her children to relive their childhood memories together. A Fei, who is from mainland China and lives in the Qishan district, was usually busy at work; hence, she had little time to spend with his children and felt awesome to have this experience to be with her children at the National Science and Technology Museum. A child of new residents’ second generation, Xiaoting, found out that technology was not difficult to understand and realized there was much technologic knowledge in her daily life. She said she would come back next time for many other experiential games at the museum.
