Considering current foreign students in Taiwan all well followed the government's policy, the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced on Monday (August 24) that Chinese students, both new and those currently enrolled in tertiary-level schools in Taiwan, will be allowed to enter the country with immediate effect. Around 10,000 international students are expected to apply for entry to Taiwan amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to the limited availability of international flights into the country, the number of students arriving from overseas may not be able to get here for anywhere between two to three months or even later after the new semester has started, the MOE stated. The students will be required to undergo quarantine for 14 days on their arrivals in Taiwan, either in a facility arranged by their school or in a government-designated facility, it added.
The MOE has launched a series of measures to arrange various mechanisms and help international students adapt to the new lifestyle in Taiwan during this pandemic outbreak.
International students arriving in Taiwan will be required to undergo quarantine for 14 days and follow the government's disease control measures, the MOE explained. Schools will assist foreign students in contacting designated quarantine facilities. After students starting undergoing quarantine, all schools will have to track and record their students' health statuses.
