According to Batangas City restricts sale, use of vape | Inquirer News, on October 24, the Batangas City municipal government modified its 2012 anti-smoking policy to limit the use and sale of vape and electronic cigarette products.

The changes were enacted by City Council members as part of the city's effort to combat cigarette and vape usage, especially among young people.

Updated City Ordinance Number 1, Series of 2012 prohibits the sale and use of vape products in schools, areas near schools, minor recreational facilities, gas stations, hospitals, public vehicles, terminals, food preparation areas, public places like plazas, parks, and playgrounds, City Hall, theaters, and churches, among other places. According to Batangas City restricts sale, use of vape | Inquirer News, this information was made public by the city's Public Information Office (PIO) on October 24.

The Public Information Office (PIO) further stated that it is definitely forbidden to sell vape items to minors. The City Health Office (CHO) must authorize the establishment of a dedicated smoking or vaping area, according to the modified legislation.

According to Batangas City restricts sale, use of vape | Inquirer News, the goal of the Smoke/Vape-Free Task Force is to keep an eye out for ordinance infractions. For the first offense, violators shall pay a fine of P1,000; for the second and third offenses, P2,000 and imprisonment will be imposed.

Selling vapes in violation of the ordinance carries fines of P3,000 for the first offense, P4,000 for the second, and P5,000 for the third. In addition, jail time, license suspension, or revocation of the business permit are all possible consequences.

Through their vapor plumes, vapes and e-cigarettes emit secondhand smoke that is just as dangerous as traditional cigarettes.

A number of hazardous and poisonous compounds that might damage tiny lung airways are included in the e-liquid or e-juice used in vapes, according to experts.

According to Batangas City restricts sale, use of vape | Inquirer News, some of these compounds are nicotine, which is highly addictive because it releases dopamine in the brain when smoked; acetone; ethylbenzene, which is used as a paint solvent; and rubidium, which is frequently used to create purple hues in pyrotechnics.
