The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional festival cultural of the East Asian. To help Taiwan's new residents understand Taiwan's traditional culture, National Immigration Agency, the Ministry of the Interior of Taiwan will hold the Dragon Boat Festival activity (粽望所歸.慶端午) at the Taoyuan Women's Hall in Taoyuan City (桃園市桃園婦女會館) from 2- 4 p.m. on June 1. In addition to watching the new resident dance performances and joining an interesting questions and answers game, there will be also an egg painting activity. New residents and family members are welcome to attend the event.
The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional festival cultural of the East Asian. It is scheduled for the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. This festival has a long history, it’s said that Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet of the Chu State during the Warring States period, he jumped into the river on this day and later evolved into a Dragon Boat Festival in China to commemorate Qu Yuan. Some people call it the Poet's Day, it one of the four major festivals of ethnic Chinese.
In order to remember the noble feelings of Qu Yuan’s patriotism, the dragon boat race and zongzi wrapping activities will be held every year during the Dragon Boat Festival to commemorate Qu Yuan.
The event will be held at the Taoyuan Women's Hall, where there are many new residents. The activities include new folk dance performances, zongzi wrapping activities, fun quizzes, and experience of egg painting.
