Department of Visual Communication Design of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology's "Formosa, Rivers Mountains Birds" passcards, which markets the extraordinary beauty of Taiwan, won Germany's Red Dot Design Award.
"Formosa, Rivers Mountains Birds" of STUST, which won the 2019 Germany's Red Dot Design Award, designs 24 delicate models of rail passcards, amateur editions, and baggage tags for "Formosa Express" with the theme of mountains, rivers, and birds.
"Formosa, Rivers Mountains Birds" expresses that the tourism industry is often seen as an important tool for promoting. Hence, they created the tourist passcards with the brand new image of Taiwan to shed light on the abundant beauty of Taiwan through the locality of Formosa Sightseeing Express.
Moreover, "Formosa, Rivers Mountains Birds" gives a new meaning to the backside of passcards with a theme of "starting a new journey" that tickets are placed in baggage tags in advance to replace the old form of envelopes. The team emphasizes, "tickets are not just identifications but a passcard full of feelings". Besides, Taiwan's five main mountains, volcano groups, and small mountains can be seen on the passcards with the theme of mountains to present the 8 main mountains and the diversity of landscapes. As for Taiwan's endemic birds, there are 8 birds picked out from 27 species that are presented on the passcards to illustrate their special characteristics.
