- NCC and telecoms firms collaborate on the development of technology to stop international scam calls
The National Communications Commission (NCC) has worked with telecom carriers to introduce new technology to block foreign fraudulent calls in an effort to stop them.
The NCC emphasized that 90% of the fraudulent calls recorded by the 165 anti-fraud hotlines included faking an international phone number before phoning Taiwan. To deceive the public, the phone numbers all begin with "+886." NCC works with the telecom providers' "International Private Branch Exchange " equipment to establish software settings. Additionally, NCC highlighted that regular traffic needs won't ever be obstructed. Only foreign scam calls are subject to this ban.
