Taiwan's ceramic art is internationally recognized! Awards presented by The International Biennial of Artistic Ceramics Aveiro 2021

The artworks of Taiwanese ceramic artists Chen Jin Wang (陳金旺) and Yu Cheng Zhong (余成忠) stood out from 128 works participated by artists from 40 countries in The International Biennial of Artistic Ceramics Aveiro 2021. Chen Jin Wang’s “Elapsed traces” (流逝痕跡) and Yu Cheng Zhong’s “Having fun playing with water” (玩水趣) received "Glory Awards".

Chen, who has been used the red clay of Taichung Dadu Mountain as his creation material, won the award for his unique personal style. Another award-winning Yu, who is good at using ceramics and composite media to create artworks, stated he used clay tablets to mold and them complete it with acrylic bars. “Having fun playing with water” depicts his childhood memories of wearing a raincoat, holding an umbrella, and stepping in puddles. Yu also won the first prize of the "2017 Gualdo Tadino 39th International Ceramic Art Competition" in Italy with outstanding results.

There are five other great Taiwanese artists selected in this biennale, namely Fu Feng Chen (傅楓宸), Sun Fu Sheng (孫福昇), Dai Xin Yu (戴欣妤), Xu Shan Shan (許珊珊) and Chen Jun Jie (陳俊傑). Their artworks will be displayed in the Aveiro museum in Santa, Portugal from October 30 to January 30, 2022. This biennial exhibition has a long history to promote contemporary ceramic creation, stimulate experimental and creative ideas, and lead new trends in ceramic art.
