According to PH wins first ‘Asia's Best Cruise Destination’ award | Inquirer News, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced on October 16 that the Philippines has won its first-ever "Asia's Best Cruise Destination" title from the esteemed World Cruise Awards.

Thanking the awarding organization, Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said that the title is a major victory for Philippine tourism since it shows how much the world loves our island getaways.

All of the tourist industry's stakeholders have DOT’s deepest gratitude for their dedication and cooperation. The shared governance model for tourism that the Marcos Administration promoted, involving both the public and commercial sectors, is showing results. In Christina Garcia Frasco’s acceptance address, the DOT vowed to preserve and strengthen the Philippines' reputation as a top cruise destination in Asia and beyond. On Sunday, October 15, the award presentation took place in Dubai.

An annual event called the World Cruise Awards honors achievement in the cruise liner business. For journalists, customers worldwide, and cruise industry experts, it is a much-anticipated occasion.

The prestigious World Travel Awards, with which the Philippines was recognized as "Asia's Leading Dive Destination" for the sixth year in a row last September, are also connected to the World Cruise Awards.

According to the Department of Transportation (DOT), 128 ports of call or cruise calls are anticipated in 2023 at 33 places in the Philippines. These calls are anticipated to carry about 101,000 passengers and 50,000 ship crew members.

The Seaborne Encore, Silver Shadow, MSC Poesia, Queen Elizabeth, Norwegian Jewel, Coral Adventure, MS Seven Seas Explorer, MS Star Breeze, Silver Whisper, Oceania Cruises, Aidabella, and the Blue Dream Cruise, which just completed its inaugural trip to the nation last week, are among the cruise ships scheduled to arrive in the Philippines this year, according to the DOT.
