Taitung celebrates Mother's Day, calling on citizens to love and protect their mothers

Taitung became the first county in the country without either confirmed cases or people in since the Covid-19 broke out. To welcome the approaching Mother's Day and express gratitude for females' contributions to society, the Department of Social Affairs, Taitung County Government, will be working with Taitung County Women's Welfare Service Center and Taitung County New Immigrant Family Service Center to host a celebration for Mother's Day at 10 a.m. on May 9. The event also invites all new immigrant families to express their gratitude and support for mothers and caretakers.

The county will continue to carry out the most comprehensive disease control measures to maintain zero coronavirus cases, County Mayor Rao Ching-ling stated. She called on mothers to love, take care of themselves when protecting families, find back the lost youth, and be a girl again.

The Department of Social Affairs interviewed 60 passerbys, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity/race, to understand their thoughts about Mother's Day. The interviews have been uploaded on May 4 onto the Facebook page of the Department of Social Affairs. Everyone is welcome to comment and tag one friend below the post to participate in the drawing before May 8 to win a prize. Also, Taitung County Women's Welfare Service Center will host a series of events for Mother's Day for motherhood to relax and enjoy. For detailed information on the events, please refer to 臺東縣婦女福利服務中心 (Taitung County Women's Welfare Service Center) or call at 089-336367.
