Nantou County’s Sun Link Sea Scenic Area (elevation 1,600 meters) is experiencing early autumn hues due to abundant rainfall and significant day-night temperature differences. The purple-leaved maples and green maples in the park have turned a vivid red earlier than expected. Additionally, the 130 ginkgo trees around Ginkgo Lake have started to turn bright yellow, giving the area a colorful autumnal display.
The Sun Link Sea Scenic Area stated that, based on experience, late October is typically the best time for viewing red maple leaves. The park has planted around 3,000 green maples, 1,000 purple-leaved maples, and 800 Formosan sweet gum trees. Thanks to the recent cooler temperatures and ample rainfall, many trees began to change color earlier this month. Currently, various maple trees are displaying increasingly vibrant red hues, drawing many visitors to admire the beauty of the autumn foliage in the mountains.Around 130 ginkgo trees are planted around Ginkgo Lake, with some of them over a century old. Additionally, the ginkgo trees surrounding Ginkgo Lake, some of which are over a hundred years old, have recently turned a bright golden yellow. This stunning display, contrasted against the surrounding greenery and reflected in the lake’s surface, creates a beautiful natural scene. Walking through the park, visitors are left mesmerized by the scenery, and it is expected that the peak season for viewing the maples and ginkgo will continue through early November.
