Taiwanese Special Beverage Enter Southeast Asia, Bubble Milk Win the Hearts of Indonesians

Taiwan’s well-known beverage brand Chatime has successfully entered Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, 3 major market areas. The bubble pearl milk tea has won the hearts of Indonesian young people, the business opportunity burst around!

According to the UDN reportage, Chatime, the main tea brand from Lakaffa International (六角國) that expanded to Oceania and southeast area, including Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, made Chatime become the largest tea brand.

Indonesia with about 200 million populations is booming out with the bubble/pearl milk tea. It is popular among the local young people, let the business opportunities are brewing out; in the Australian consumer structure, the Australians have surpassed the Chinese ethnics, shows that Taiwanese tea has penetrated into the non-Chinese ethnic group.

Chatime in Australia, is under authorization the CEO, Carlos Antonius, the General Manager of Nandos, the Australian chain chicken restaurant. He organize a team of 60 people, the members are the local talents with the experiences in catering or franchising.

Antonius said that after entering the Australian market in 2009, the annual revenues are growing in double digits. Currently Chatime has 112 branch stores and it is the largest chain tea brand in Australia.

He said that the Australians attach the importance of the health, really like tea, especially fruit tea, such as lychee green tea. The sales volume is very good.

Antonius also said, Chatime cooperates with the delivery platforms; Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Last September, they also launched their own ordering App for in-store meals and currently have 230.000 loyal users.

For Southeast Asian market, Devin Widya Krisnadi, the Operational Director for Chatime Indonesia said that bubble/pearl milk is loved by young Indonesians and Chatime is booming in Indonesia. Currently there are 270 branch stores in Indonesia, estimated that there will be 310 booth stores at the end of this year.

Christopher Cua, the Finance Director of Chatime in the Philippines pointed out that Chatime entered the Philippine market in 2011. The operation has continued to rise and at the end of the year, the numbers of the branch stores are about 150.

He said that the climate in Southeast Asia is hot, while the Filipino consumers like the sweet ice drinks, the chocolate milk tea and the brown sugar series are very popular in the Philippines.
